  • Announcement: SDSU Program Application Software System Update

    Decision Desk – the application software system for collecting supplemental, program-required materials for graduate applications – informed us in early October that they would be ending service. The SDSU team that supports Decision Desk immediately began the process to replace the Decision Desk graduate program application process with a suitable alternative. All links to the Decision Desk applications have been removed from this website to prevent any additional applicants from beginning the process (with the exception for the Spring Admitting Business Administration programs). Over the next few weeks, we will be launching a replacement application system.

    Please see the Frequently Asked Questions below for more information about the transition to the new application software system and next steps for completing the program application.

    Who can talk to me about my program application?

    We understand that this system transition is causing frustration and that you are eager for answers. We ask that you are patient and wait for further communication from the program.

    If you would like to discuss the requirements for the program application, please contact the program directly.

    If you would like an update on the transition to the new system, please visit the individual program pages on this site. We will provide details about the new system as they become available.

    How will I know that the program application is ready for me to start?

    You can view updates about your program’s application process on the individual program pages on this site. In addition, all Cal State Apply applicants will receive instructions from the program to which they are applying once the system is ready – which is another reason to make sure you complete your Cal State Apply application.

    My program emailed me and told me to complete a completely different process. What should I do?

    There are a small number of programs who opted to transition to their own system in order to expedite the process for their applicants. Please refer to the any communication received from the program, the program’s website, and/or the individual program pages on this site for additional details.

    What should I do if I have not started my program application?

    Please wait for further instructions regarding your program application. In the meantime, please proceed with completing your Cal State Apply application and sending official test scores and transcripts to Graduate Admissions. You can view updates about your program’s application process on the individual program pages on this site

    applicants who started Decision Desk applications

    I started or submitted my Decision Desk application. Do I have to start over?

    Unfortunately, the answer is yes. The new application will have the same requirements, but some of the formatting of the questions is different and we are unable to transfer any of the work you may have completed in the Decision Desk system. However, any letters of recommendation requested in Decision Desk that were completed by your recommenders will be transfered to the new system.

    I requested Letters of Recommendation in Decision Desk, will those be transferred to the new system?

    If your Letters of Recommendation were received in the Decision Desk system, we will move them into the new system for you.

    If your Letters of Recommendation were not yet received in the Decision Desk system, you will be instructed to send new letter requests from the new system.

    How can I track the status of my program application?

    Once the new system is in place, you will be contacted with instructions about creating an account in the new system. You will be able to view the status of your Letters of Recommendation and application status in the new system. For official university application statuses and updates, please refer to WebPortal.

    Getting Started

    • Navigate to the home or deadlines page and select your program to access the program application instruction page.
    • Click on Apply in Step 3 on your program's application instruction page. Note: Please be sure you are selecting the correct program. The Apply link will take you to that specific program's application.

    Return to Application - Already Started/Created Account

    Navigate to the Interfolio login page and enter your email address and password to return to your application. Here you can continue working on your application, check the status of letters of recommendation, re-send letter of recommendation invitation emails, and review your submitted application materials.

    Reset Interfolio Password

    • Navigate to the login page.
    • Click on Sign In, then Forgot Your Password, enter your email address, and click Send Password.
    • Follow instructions sent to your email to reset your password.

    Questions about University Application

    Cal State Apply/WebPortal Help

    Please contact Graduate Admissions - Prospective Student Center for questions about your Cal State Apply application, your WebPortal account, or your official transcripts/test scores.

    Questions About Your Red ID

    Your Red ID is your nine-digit SDSU student identification number. It is assigned by the Admissions department after your submit your Cal State Apply application. This number is required in the "Complete Your Profile" section of the program application. You may begin your application and work on other sections before receiving the number; however, you will not be able to complete the profile section until you enter your Red ID.

    If you have not received your Red ID within 10-15 business days of applying, please contact Graduate Admissions. Red IDs may be issued anywhere between 1 and 15 business days, depending on when you apply. We recommend submitting your Cal State Apply application as soon as possible to ensure you receive your Red ID on time.
